The person should be patient. Unlike people, animals take longer to understand the tricks they are being taught. Some may also be affected by the past trauma they might have been through with the previous instructors. This will make them be a bit reluctant in responding to your instructions. If you are not patient enough, you might want to quit this job

Being skillful is essential for anyone that wants to work in this field. You cannot help people to become better when you are not good yourself. This means that you have to go through a program with an experienced person to help you gain knowledge. Most professionals in this field have had experience in competitions, and this is what makes them better instructors.

The sportsmanship spirit is the one that makes a person to want to be the best among his competitors. This enables him to want to practice longer and perfect on his weaknesses so that he becomes the best. Such a person is fit to help the owner of the competing animal do the right things that will enable him to win.

To be successful in his work, the person must be a team player. The different people that will be in his team during the completion will expect him to co-operate during the training period. If he is helping the owner of the animal to get the trophy, they both have to work together to achieve this. He should learn how to relate well to the horse too.

The professionals are responsible. Handling the animals requires feeding and cleaning them too. A hungry animal will not be in a position to practice. It thus the responsibility of the instructor to ensure that all the needs of these animals are well taken care of. In case of any injuries, the person should take the right measures in time.

The person should be confident at all times. These are big animals, and some people might be scared to ride them for fear of getting hurt. It is the work of the instructor to remove this fear to appoint where the person becomes confident enough to compete and win the race. If he is however nervous as well, he will not be in a position to help.
