Mindfulness is becoming increasingly popular and for good reason. It is giving people the focus and clarity to make important changes in their lives to improve their happiness and wellbeing. Embroidery has been around for centuries and although today much of the embroidery found on clothing is machine stitched, there is a growing community of hand embroiderers who rave about the benefits of this creative and peaceful activity. When you focus on a hobby to utilize the benefits of mindfulness you are also working on your self esteem. Low self esteem comes from the way we talk to ourselves throughout the day. Tiny changes can have a huge effect and working towards a clear target improves the way you think about yourself, because you are being productive and progressing.

It can lead on to other things, such as dress making or painting. It is never a waste of time, although it can be frustrating when you are stuck on a particularly tricky element. Setting aside a time each day or week to focus on your mindfulness hobby, whether it be embroidery or something else entirely, means you are making a promise to yourself and giving yourself the gift of time and peace of mind.
