7 Best Hockey Drills Practice Skills

By Brian Bennett

Players need to be fit all the time. They thus need to practice regularly so that they do not get surprised on the playground. Winning a championship is almost impossible when you have not trained or practiced enough. Therefore, ensure that you have attended all the Hockey drills before you set out to the field. If you are not a dedicated player, be sure that you will not win the competitions. Hence, make sure you are aggressive and ready to practice. The following are some of the practice techniques that you can adopt.

When shooting, make sure you shoot to score. Do not be afraid. Therefore, make sure you shoot with all your might. Do not take it easy, and do not let up on the net. If you feel somewhat anxious, take a deep breath, then take a glance at the field. Come up with a strategy that will help you give the best shot in your life.

Additionally, ensure that you always accelerate to the net and avoid gliding. Gliding may make you lose balance, thus losing your aim. Hence, always make sure that you head to the net at high speed. This will help you to not to use as much energy on your chest. More so, the kick will come out so swift and unpredictable.

During the drills, ensure that you watch other players that are inline. Make sure that these other players are not distracting you. Research has shown that when you watch other players doing the practice or kicks, it is like you are also doing the training. Therefore, you motor neurons will tend to kick as if you are the one drilling. Also, you will see the mistakes of others.

When practicing alone, make sure you add some moves to the game. Do not play plainly because no one is watching. Therefore, you can add more moves when moving to the net. Drive wide as you add intensity. Make sure you have done all the things you do when playing with your teammates like protecting the pluck.

Creativity is paramount in this kind of game. Playing plainly can be boring, and it will not push your body to the limit. Hence, ensure that you have challenged yourself in all ways possible so that you can lose your pluck. When this happens, it is a good indicator that you are pushing your body to the limit.

Even if you are the best player, do not think that you are perfect. Therefore, make sure you always ask the coach to clarify things that you do not understand. When you do not understand something, do not walk away from the coach confused. Hence, ask the trainers to clarify the moves you do not understand.

More so, you should show some aggressiveness when you practice. Although some players tend to take practice sessions very lightly, these sessions are critical. You will realize your mistakes and weaknesses and work hard to get rid of them. Overall, you will have become a more competent player.
