There are many people making the choice to move to the Kelowna, BC area of Canada. So many new arrivals have made the city one of the most rapidly growing population centers in North America. New residents are of retirement age, as well as younger employees. They choose the city because of its mild climate and because of the many things to do and see. The area is known for its production of wines which are recognized internationally. Mostly, the vineyards are located south of the city where the climate is ideal for growing quality grapes. Sun-Rype bars also have their headquarters within the community. The area has been compared to the Napa Valley, California for its climate and wine production.

The city is located in south-central British Columbia, Canada. The regional District of Central Okanagan has its headquarters in the city. In population, the greater metro area is the 3rd largest BC province city and 22nd largest population in Canada. The name of this city means "grizzly bear" in the indigenous language. The metro area and Kelowna market update includes Penticton, Summerland, Peachland, Lake Country City and West Kelowna.

The climate is semi-arid, with summers which are hot, dry and sunny. Winters are cold and cloudy with four distinct seasons. The Lake offers some moderation in temperatures and the surrounding mountains separate the valley from the rest of BC. The average high temperature recorded in this city is above freezing every month of each year, an unusual occurrence for Canadian cities.

Kelowna homes for sale are available in a wide range of prices and styles, although the hot market means that inventories are not high. The price range is somewhat higher than for most cities in Canada.
